When I was a kid I remember playing some of the classic games like Life, Sorry, Monopoly, Risk, etc. I’d play with my siblings or my friends, or occasionally with my cousins when they visited. Card games and board games were a fairly regular part of growing up.
When I met Gary he introduced me to an entirely different world of gaming. I’ll be honest, I was very surprised that gaming was much bigger and more involved than I'd ever fathomed. I had heard about role playing games, but hadn’t ever played. I’d never heard of miniature war gaming. He introduced me to my first ever gaming convention. We attended DunDraCon in San Ramon, California about 7 years ago. I was blown away that 3000+ people would spend an entire weekend just playing games!
Through the next several years I found myself playing miniature war games with Gary, painting miniatures with him, playing quite a few new board and card games, and learning more about the role playing universe. I attended Pacificon, Celesticon, SaltCon, Tacticon, and, of course, I have been part of organizing BryceCon.
I’ve come to enjoy many games and have gotten excited about some of the new developments in the gaming industry. Gary and I have introduced some games to our now four-year-old son, and hope that gaming will be a part of his childhood.
What I have realized that I love most, from my childhood gaming to the present, is the company I get to enjoy while playing. It creates great memories, laughter, learning, and lots of fun moments. Being a part of BryceCon and bringing it to all of you has been incredibly rewarding. I’m excited to be part of it all for years to come.
